These parallel waveforms becomes more effective when you work with four decks, stems or remix decks. It’s a welcome addition that brings it in line with both rekordbox and Serato, although you could argue this should have been introduced some time ago. You can zoom out to quite a distance so you get to see most of the track as it progresses, or you can zoom right in until you get a blur of waveforms. This basically takes the existing waveform layout and places two larger versions at the top of the screen. Plus, users can now – at last – change the view of the waveform layout to full Parallel view. Using Julian Jeweil’s Mars as an example here, there’s a real sense of where the energy lies and – as the track builds to its drop – you’re shown subtle yet informative colour changes. And speaking of colour, the colours used in the track waveforms look more beautiful than ever. The Hot Cues are also far more visually appealing, appearing as nice big blocks of colour which are each easy to recognise in terms of their purpose (Grid, Loop, Cue etc). The Cue, Cup, Flex and Rev buttons look bigger and easier to activate. It’s simple but effective.Īs well as this, the layout feels far less cluttered and easier on the eye. This should help you to quickly spot which effect you’re using and change as appropriate. When you change from Filter to, say, Noise, the colour of the knob changes too, and it’s a different colour for each effect. Take the Mixer FX, for example (more on these to come). I’m very impressed with the Signposts: these are little indicators that provide the key bits of information you need when you’re deep in the mix. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s worth noting. It’s not retina-ready, however, meaning that it won’t take full advantage of high-definition screens. It’s darker, flatter and sharper in general. The UI feels immediately fresher and more in line with Native’s other products such as Maschine. However, some small yet not insignificant improvements have been made. Make sure to select the controller for both IN and OUT ports.Ĭongratulations! You have successfully loaded 2 TSI files- add as many more as you see fit.Open up Traktor Pro 3.1 for the first time and you’ll find that it is – in essence – the same Traktor we know and love: browser at the bottom, decks left and right, mixer in the middle and effects at the top. The Controller must be plugged in to show in the list. This will separate the controller from the others avoiding any conflicts. To avoid conflicts between controllers, you need to specify what controller will be routed to each mapping. You can only bring the mapping settings in using this button. This option will only add the mapping to the pre-existing mapping list and won’t overwrite anything. To bring in your 2nd TSI file you need to use the smaller import option: If you bring in a mapping using this button, it will overwrite all other mappings. Using the large import button allows you to bring in more than just the controller settings, including things like FX, layout, and Traktor settings that the mapping designer may require for everything to work perfectly. The first time you import a TSI file, it’s a good idea to use the large import button: There is a simple way to fix this issue: You just need to know how to import the files. Chances are there might be a few conflicts between the files where each controller sends out similar MIDI messages, triggering the wrong functions. You have searched through the forums and found a TSI file for both controllers you have or possibly even built a few of your own. Importing the TSI file will set up all the connections for you, so the new DJ can get started on the road to Controllerism without a huge learning curve. We publish a few carefully maintained TSI files on our mapping page, and in the forum there are large amounts of user files that demonstrate many different ways that a person can use their controller. The TSI file is a map that connects your controllers’ physical knobs and buttons to Traktor’s virtual controls. This raises the legitimate question: “How do I set up multiple controllers in Traktor? Won’t they conflict?” In this article I will show you some great new features in Traktor Pro that enable anyone to easily use multiple controllers Now that many of our readers have successfully embraced and conquered their first controllers, you are probably thinking about adding a 2nd controller to your rig. It was not that long ago that even the thought of a single controller sent DJs running into the mountains with fear.
